4D Weather Functional Requirements for NextGen
Apr 18 , 2008
As the result of a six-month effort by the JPDO’s Weather Working Group, the “Four-Dimensional (4D) Weather Functional Requirements for NextGen Air Traffic Management” represents a milestone toward the realization of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). The document was drafted at the request of the JPDO’s Senior Policy Committee in order to better inform JPDO partner departments and agencies, and offers an essential introduction to 4D Weather Cube Program Managers recently appointed by the FAA and NOAA/DOC. It effectively identifies the functional requirements for the 4D weather information system envisioned in the NextGen Concept of Operations. The Weather Working Group, in appropriate coordination with NextGen stakeholders, will continue to refine the requirements as research provides further clarity.
