JPDO UAS Perspective Presented at ICNS ConferenceMay 13, 2013
Yogi Shah, JPDO Division Manager for Strategic Interagency Initiatives, participated in a panel discussion at the annual Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference in Herndon, VA on April 24, 2013. The ICNS Conference addresses long-term research and development (R&D), as well as current implementation of ICNS technologies needed to enable NextGen. The theme of the 2013 Conference was “Diverse Aircraft in a Common Sky: ICNS Leads the Way” and focused on the emergence of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and the challenges they present to airspace planners.

The JPDO sponsored aTechnical Exchange Meeting (TEM) with the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA), theFederal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Weather Service (NWS)on February 20-21, 2013. Supported by web services from the Office of theFederal Coordinator for Meteorology (OFCM), participants reported on the futuredirection of the weather community’s web services for NextGen.
