- Air Traffic Management-Weather Integration Plan v2.0
The NextGen Weather Integration Plan provides the initial requirements, scope, and implementation roadmap to achieve the NextGen vision. It also addresses agency roles and responsibilities and includes resource requirements.
- Enterprise Architecture Version FY13
The Enterprise Architecture (EA), commonly referred to as the “blueprint” for NextGen, is a technical document that describes the segments, capabilities, operational activities, and identified relationships to the key target components of NextGen in the year 2025. It is intended to be used as a tool for planning, negotiating and understanding the processes and technical solutions that impact the aviation community.
- Flight Prioritization Study Team Final Report
The Flight Prioritization Study Team Final Report was commissioned by the JPDO as a way to evaluate current and proposed flight prioritization concepts as they might apply in the envisioned far-term NextGen environment. Composed of technology and policy experts from across the aviation community, the Study Team performed this task through formal review of NextGen authorizing legislation and planning documents, workshops with National Airspace System (NAS) operators and stakeholders, and deliberative analysis. The Study Team developed 14 NextGen metrics and assessed 10 potential flight prioritization concepts against those metrics. This report identifies the most promising concepts for further consideration.
- Integrated United States Air Surveillance Governance Report
This report represents the result of work that began in 2007 as part of the NextGen Integrated Surveillance Study Team (ISST). It provides recommendations for the organizational structure of Integrated Surveillance governance, operating characteristics, a two-year work plan, and associated staffing needs for coordinating the long-term integration and alignment of surveillance capabilities.
- JPDO Program Plan FY11
The 2011 JPDO Program Plan is a high-level JPDO organization planning document that describes its 2010 achievements and lays out specific milestones to be completed by the end of September 2011.
- Net-Centric Operations Concept of Operations v1.0
The Net-Centric Operations (NCO) Concept of Operations (ConOps) expands on the vision for Net-Centric Operations set forth in Version 3.0, Chapter 4, of the JPDO's NextGen ConOps. It discusses, from an operational perspective, the information exchange (IX) services envisioned in NextGen, and emphasizes how NextGen IX Services will enable users to perform their roles more efficiently and effectively.
- NextGen Avionics Roadmap v2.0

This version of the Roadmap focuses on the definition of far-term NextGen avionics that will require either new aircraft equipage, standardization of aircraft equipage, or greater fleet equipage. It also addresses different segments of aviation, such as General Aviation (GA), and includes new work on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Surface Movement, and Weather.
- NextGen Concept of Operations v3.2
The Concept of Operations (ConOps) for NextGen is the first of the NextGen planning documents. It provides an integrated view of NextGen operations in the 2025 timeframe, including key transformations from today’s operations.
- NextGen Human Factors Research Coordination Plan
The NextGen Human Factors Coordination Plan helps align FAA's and NASA's human factors research, while reducing gaps in NextGen by building on current coordination mechanisms.
- NextGen Integrated Work Plan Version FY13
The NextGen Integrated Work Plan (IWP) is a foundational document that describes when NextGen capabilities and potential improvements will be introduced and who will be responsible for them. In this version, the Executive Summary summarizes the IWP structure and provides additional clarity for key planning element and attribute definitions. Lastly, this document summarizes the JPDO’s efforts to align the IWP with international planning documents and provides a preview of next year’s JPDO objectives.
- NextGen Weather Plan v2.0
The NextGen Weather Plan was developed by weather communities within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Department of Defense (DOD) to ensure accessible, network-enabled weather information will be available to meet the user’s needs in NextGen.
- Global Cooperation
This Snap Shot outlines the work the JPDO is doing with its international stakeholders to ensure that aircraft and operators move safely and seamlessly throughout the global aviation environment.
- Information Sharing in a High Consequence Environment
This Snap Shot describes the role of Net-Centric Information Sharing in defense and intelligence environments, and how the JPDO is fostering collaboration between its stakeholders through the use of a web-based development tool known as the Joint Planning Environment.
- JPDO Progress
This Snap Shot describes the JPDO's goals and accomplishments in facilitating the NextGen vision, including interagency collaboration, technology transfer, and multi-agency planning.
- Network-Centric Operations (Global Plan Initiatives)
This Snap Shot describes the essential element of NextGen known as Net-Centric Operations (NCO) and what the JPDO is doing with the international community to develop the criteria needed to ensure global interoperability of key capabilities and services as they relate to NCO.
- NextGen Institute
This Snap Shot describes the NextGen Institute, a unique organization that establishes a working mechanism for involving industry at every stage of NextGen planning and development.
- NextGen: The Future of Aviation
This Snap Shot explains the need for a more modern air transportation system, including the origin of NextGen, its goals, and what steps are necessary to take air transportation into the future.
- Securing America's Air Transportation System
This Snap Shot explains how NextGen will secure the future of aviation, addressing the issue from a multi-layered, system-wide perspective that includes the passenger, the airport, the aircraft and the airspace.
- Trajectory-Based Operations
This Snap Shot describes the NextGen concept known as Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO) which will allow aircraft to fly directly to their destination on precise, four-dimensional pathways (or trajectories), automatically separating from other aircraft and adjusting to weather conditions as required.
